DFA Hosts Successful First Combine With Strong Turnout and Evaluations

The Developmental Football Association officially launched its player evaluation process with its first combine and the event delivered exactly what it was designed to accomplish.

Nearly 75 athletes participated in the inaugural DFA Combine, making it a strong and encouraging first step for the league as it prepares for its initial competitive season. From registration through final drills, the event ran smoothly and provided evaluators with meaningful data on a wide range of players.

Testing and Evaluation Performed as Planned

The testing portion of the combine went very well. Athletes were put through verified athletic testing and position specific drills designed to measure real football traits, not just raw numbers.

Evaluations focused on speed, explosiveness, movement quality, positional fundamentals, effort, and coachability. The structure allowed staff to efficiently rotate athletes while still giving each player adequate opportunity to compete and be evaluated. Every rep mattered and the process stayed focused on football performance.

Key Positional Needs Identified

One of the most important outcomes from the first combine was clarity around roster needs.

The DFA has a significant need for big physical players in the trenches, specifically offensive and defensive linemen who can control the line of scrimmage. There is also a strong need for defensive backs and quarterbacks. Players at these positions who can communicate, process information quickly, and execute consistently are in high demand.

Athletes who fit these profiles are strongly encouraged to attend the next combine.

Next DFA Combine Scheduled for March 1st

The next DFA Combine will take place on March 1st and registration is now open.

This combine is strictly for new participants. Players who have already attended a DFA combine should not attend again. Each combine is designed to evaluate a new group of athletes to ensure every player receives a fair and thorough evaluation.

Combine Fees and Player Dues

Combine fees are applied toward eventual player dues for athletes who advance in the DFA process. These fees are not random tryout costs. They help support league operations and reduce the overall financial burden once rosters are finalized.

Player dues help cover uniforms, facilities, officials, insurance, league software, and operational costs required to run a professional and organized league.

A Strong Start for the DFA

The first DFA Combine set the tone for what the league is building. Organized evaluations, strong turnout, clear roster needs, and a focused process marked a successful opening event. The DFA continues to move forward with structure, transparency, and competitive standards at the forefront.
